the most wonderful of the year....

No I’m not talking about Christmas (well partly) what I’m talking about is that wonderful time of year that just arrived to north Texas. I’m talking about fleece pj pants and homemade socks, and all the wonderfulness that accompanies this. I love when you run at night in this weather, lungs burn with the frosty nip, lips chap, the sting of the wind on your bare skin, the way how you can feel every muscle warm on soft on the inside but hard and cold on the outside, how you wonder how it is possible for ears to be this cold and still hurt. The peacefulness, it gets dark early so you get to see all the house glowing with warm light, the slight smell of pine trees brought from the cold front reminds me of living back in the mountain and my heart aches a little bit for those sturdy beauties. I broke out my space heater last night, there is an almost comfortable smell in burning dust, it makes me wonder about how we don’t need to be taught to fear smoke...baby its cold outside.
